I try to cultivate the raw aesthetic and honesty that comes from the immediacy of ideas and mark making, by confronting and preserving my thoughts or concerns. This is realised by stimulating conversations between colour, material and texture.
Through a mixed media and variable practice I attempt to carefully analyse and further define my moral and political identity against the current social landscape. Observably autobiographical works contain direct story telling motifs, together providing a curious insight in to a self-declared identity and perspective.
Works are often audaciously naïve, flying in the face of harsh fundamental truths and social/political anxieties. Despite carrying heavy and often pessimistic themes, the language used to convey them is embedded within a peculiar and fine-tuned humour. This has been cultivated over many years of inquiry, in efforts to make such demanding themes more digestible for the audience and for myself.
